  • Vehicle Overview

What's not to love about the  boxy shape and zesty yellow paint scheme. The 1995 Volvo 850 T-5R arrived as both sedan and a family station wagon. It packs a 2.3-liter turbocharged five-cylinder with an ECU tuned by Porsche for 243 horsepower, sticky low-profile Pirelli P-Zero tires came standard, as did a 0-60 time of just 6.5 seconds. And, it only happened because, the previous year, Tom Walkinshaw Racing had done the unthinkable, campaigning a pair of 850 wagons in the British Touring Car Championship.

  • Standard & Upgraded Features

    - Turbocharged and intercooled DOHC 20-valve inline-5, aluminum block and head, port fuel injection and 240 horse power as standard.

    - Front wheel drive, 4 speed automatic with  overdrive

    - Limited edition  Alcantara seats (faux suede) with steering wheel accents.

    - Eurosport cat-back exhaust and open air filter

    - Bilstein B6 suspension  with Vogtland spring riding  on 18" Volvo Pegasus wheels shod in 215 35 18 Continental all-season tires.

    - Kenwood touchscreen head unit with standard T5R enhanced audio package.

  • Condition Report

We acquired this limited edition Volvo from it's 4th owner in New Jersey,  and it's currently being daily-driven by the owner of Cult Cars, who's affectionately dubbed this Swedish blonde  "Tilde."

A  clean CarFax report shows no evidence of prior accidents, however paint is slightly mismatched on the hood, sideskirts and eyelets beneath the headlights.

The car is mostly stock with a few exceptions including a; Eurosport cat-back exhaust system and air intake along with Bilstein shocks and Vogtland springs. The ride is somewhat harsh and but a review  from Car & Driver in May 1995 notes  that's just the way it arrived from the factory.

The interior is in great condition overall, the seats are still supportive and largely blemish free. The headliner was recently replaced and looks factory-fresh.

Invoices are also available for the following repairs:

February '20: Took delivery. New tires installed ;20

June '20: Spark plugs and an oil changed. New oil cooler lines.

April '20:New cabin blower motor and resistor. Fuel pump relay and evaporative filter replaced.

    March '20: Defective sunroof replaced.

July '20: Air conditioning compressor was replaced and the system was recharged

Overall this a very clean example with high miles, no rust and recent maintenance.

A complete pre-purchase inspection is available from Baker Garage, Volvo specialists who've been looking after this car.

  • Why it's a Cult Car

With a sporting pedigree and success in the British Touring Car Championships the Volvo 850 made a name for itself in the late 1990's.
