History & Maintenance

  • Ownership History

    • With just 2 owners since 2007 this AMG has been meticulously well cared for. The current owner acquired the car from a friend in Northern California. The Carfax report shows two California owners, however the car was titled in both the husband and wife’s name and belonged to the same family until 2018 when it was acquired by the current owner in December 2018.

  • Ownership Experience

    • The current owner has put approximately 2,000 miles on the car, with roughly half of those miles logged on a road trip from California to Colorado. He states “This is probably the greatest road trip car I’ve ever owned.”

    • The car has always been garage kept and the current owners state the supplemental battery should be plugged in when the car is not in use.

    • When asked what he will miss about the car; “ This car feels like the car Bruce Wayne would be driving when he’s not in the Batmobile. It’s really comfortable, really sporty, and enjoyable to drive. Due to a lack of space, it’s time to sell.”

Overview

With an original listing price of $190,000 the 2007 Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG might be one of the best values in the used car market today. At the heart of this luxury sports sedan is a twin-turbo 12 cylinder motor that makes 604 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. It can accelerate from 0-60 in just over four seconds and will get to an electronically-limited 155-mph top speed in a hurry.

Braking is similarly astounding. In front, large 15.4-inch rotors stop the 5081-pound behemoth from 70 mph in 154 feet, an achievement that bested Mercedes half million dollar SLR supercar of the same era.

Heritage

The roots of a Mercedes super sedan go back to the AMG Hammer. AMG started with the 300E and then transplanted a 5.6-liter M117 V8 from the Mercedes 560 SEC. The engine was bored out to 6.0 liters and blueprinted, then matched to a re-valved four-speed transmission, a Torsen limited-slip rear differential, and a stouter rear subframe was added along with a full kit of exterior and interior trim pieces. AMG suspension with more aggressive damping, and 17-inch wheels rounded out the performance package. The car launched in 1986 and in total, just 13 were made for the North American market with a total of 30 worldwide.

Interior               A+

The interior of this vehicle is in immaculate condition, there are no signs of stains, wear or rips in the leather. Everything functions as it should, including the automatic rear privacy shades. The vehicle has been regularly detailed and it shows, sitting inside this interior you appreciate the sound deadening of double paned windows and you would never believe this car was built over 15 years ago.

Exterior                A-

The exterior of this car shows in remarkable condition, the paint was corrected and protected with a Ceramic Coating in 2019, since then the car has seen less than 1,000 miles, our detailer noted that the Ceramic Coating functions as it should and does not need reapplication at this time. A few minor blemishes are noted in the rear bumper.

Mechanical         A+

Having been serviced at the dealership, this car has been meticulously maintained and runs as it should, no current issues are showing and the vehicle drives well. The seller has stated that a check engine light for the ignition module intermittently comes on, this is apparently completely normal for this platform until the facelift fixed the issue in 2009.

Photographers notes

Overall the car is in great condition and shows little signs of wear and tear. Mechanically everything works. The car fires up without hesitation and is responsive. This car moves and gets up to speed quite quickly and smoothly and is an amazing highway cruiser. Power delivery is quick and can get you into trouble if you’re not paying attention to your speed.

The interior is in excellent shape, no tears or stains. Rear shades operate and all switches are in working order. The car has a great sound system and the reactive driver side bolsters are awesome and keep you grounded through turns. The interior amenities are awesome for a car of this age.

The exterior is also in great shape and there are no large dents or chips present. There are a few scratches on lower front bumper and also the rear bumper which have been documented in photos. The tire tread is low so new tires on the rear are recommended. There is also a chip on the windshield that has been filled.

Overall the car looks great and drives excellent. This would make a baller daily driver!
